This is Maddox' Story
Maddox Peace—professionally known as @1dollahotdogs—is a Calgary-based tattoo artist with four years of experience and a lifelong connection to visual art. From a young age, drawing served as a primary creative outlet, and a pivotal sketch at age 14 reaffirmed his path toward a career in art. His tattoo work is defined by bold, imaginative compositions—often featuring surreal skulls, otherworldly creatures, and layered forms that feel organically embedded in the skin. Given creative freedom, Maddox strives to craft designs that are both visually dynamic and emotionally evocative.
Outside of tattooing, Maddox continues to explore his creativity through traditional drawing mediums like black pens and pencil crayons, which allow him to develop intricate concepts with depth and detail. He’s also active in Calgary’s music scene, performing in several bands including Sputum, where he applies a similar artistic philosophy: unfiltered, expressive, and distinctive.
Parlour Tattoo has been a meaningful space for Maddox since its inception—he grew up around the shop and now works alongside longtime friends and mentors. Looking ahead, he’s focused on larger-scale tattoo projects, collaborative work with other artists, and expanding his practice through merchandise and album artwork for local musicians.
